Route selection

Every effort has been made to keep the proposed route as short ,straight and direct as possible and also to reduce the proportion of public highway works to a minimum. However existing and future constraints have led to  a substantial proportion of the route being positioned in the highway. The route has also been modified and adjusted in places to respond to ecology and archaeology issues.

Environmental issues

Significant ammounts of ecological and archaeological work have been carried out prior to the commencement of the works. The results of these pre-constructioin surveys have mainly resulted in changesto the alignment of the proposed route in order to reduce  or remove the impact of the route on ecological and archaeological sites wherever possible.
